COMPLETE PROJECT NAME: Comprehensive Review of the Child Rights Coordination in the Philippines with focus on the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) for UNICEF
PROJECT PERIOD: 15 Dec 2018 – 30 Jun 2019
DESCRIPTION: Meraki was commissioned to determine the effectiveness of the coordination and child’s rights monitoring structures, programs, and services in the Philippines, with particular focus on the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC). Regional partners of the CWC in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao were respondents for this research project, including the CWC member-agencies and the national secretariat in Metro Manila. The engagement produced a comprehensive review and analysis of the current coordination processes and mechanisms for child’s rights in the Philippines. The project also analyzed the roles of the different national child-centered organizations and situated the CWC’s mandate vis-à-vis these institutions. The project also assessed CWC’s level of effectiveness in fulfilling its mandate, and recommended courses of action on key areas that require policy reform and programs for effective, responsive and efficient coordination mechanisms across the different child’s rights organizations.
