COMPLETE PROJECT NAME: Development of the ECCD-First 1,000 Days Manual of Procedures (MOP) and Job Aids for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) PROJECT PERIOD: 15 Jun 2020 – 15 Feb 2021 DESCRIPTION: The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) engaged Meraki for the Development of the ECCD-First 1,000 Days Manual of Procedures (MOP) and Job Aids in 2020. A Field Assessment in seven (7) regions, with a total of 17 provinces in the Philippines to examine and document current practices in implementing MNCHN-related, nutrition-specific, and nutrition-sensitive programs for the first 1,000 days in both emergency and development contexts. The assessment provided an analysis of service providers’ capacity gaps from the regional to the barangay level. Results of the Field Assessment served as inputs to the formulation of the Manual of Procedures (MOP) and Job Aids. Data gathering was conducted using a mixed mode of virtual and face-to-face interviews and focus group discussions to observe minimum standard health protocols and travel/ mobility restrictions. Local researchers were engaged to ensure data gathering is conducted in the target areas. A validation session was conducted to collect feedback and additional inputs for consideration and incorporation into the MOP. The final MOP was written and rendered into a popular and user-friendly material, especially for local health and child development workers, and has been adopted for dissemination and use by the Department of Health (DOH). |
